7 Days to Die hosting: everything you need to know
7 Days to Die blends survival, crafting, tower-defence and FPS in a procedurally generated voxel world. Its highlight, the horde night every 7 days (blood moon), sends the number of simultaneous zombies soaring and puts the server under severe strain, even more so with heavy overhauls like Darkness Falls or Undead Legacy.
A Nexus Games 7 Days to Die server handles these load spikes thanks to the Ryzen 9 7950X3D, which keeps the simulation stable during blood moons even when heavily modded. You install your mods and overhauls via NexusPanel, adjust the difficulty, rates and length of the day/night cycle in a few clicks, and keep your persistent world online 24/7 so your group's progress never stops.

Frequently asked questions · 7 Days to Die server
Yes. Overhauls such as Darkness Falls, Undead Legacy, War3zuk, Ravenhearst or War of the Walkers are added via WebFTP into the Mods/ folder; keep an eye on version compatibility on the client side. Overhauls that change blocks or items must also be installed by every player, and switching overhaul normally means starting a fresh world.
In serverconfig.xml you choose between Navezgane, the handcrafted map that is always identical, and Random World Generation (RWG), which builds a new map from a seed name you type in, the same seed always regenerates the same world. Map size is set alongside it, typically from 4k to 10k; bigger maps mean more towns and POIs but longer generation and a heavier world in memory. To reset, change the seed (or delete the save from WebFTP) and restart: the server generates the new world on boot. Take a backup first if you might want your old world back.
Yes: since version 2.0, 7 Days to Die dedicated servers support crossplay between PC, PS5 and Xbox Series. It is all or nothing: a server running mods (Darkness Falls, Undead Legacy…) cannot host console players, as consoles cannot install mods. So pick either a vanilla crossplay server or a modded PC server.
Everything is set in serverconfig.xml from NexusPanel: Blood Moon enemy count and frequency, loot abundance, difficulty and sleeper zombie volumes.
Yes. Schedulable automatic backups, restorable in one click, so you never lose your progress before a horde night.
Up to 100 depending on the plan; the Ryzen 9 7950X3D absorbs the CPU load of horde nights even with heavy overhauls.
Blood moons are CPU-bound and want a fast quad-core or better and 8-16 GB of RAM, more for overhauls like Darkness Falls. Our Ryzen 9 7950X3D and DDR5 ECC RAM comfortably exceed that.
7 Days to Die is a paid game.
Nexus Games is rated one of the best 7 Days to Die hosts thanks to AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D processors, DDR5 ECC memory and Gen4 NVMe storage, with Anti-DDoS included, full mod support and support 7 days a week.
At Nexus Games a 7 Days to Die server starts at $7.55/month. Pricing scales with the slots you choose, from 10 players up to 100, up to $48.59/month for the largest configuration : you only pay for the slots you need, with CPU, RAM and bandwidth included and Anti-DDoS standard.
