Multipliers on an ARK: Survival Ascended server

Multipliers are the one setting every player notices in the first minute. That is exactly why they are decided before opening, not afterwards.
The four that matter
Taming speed, experience, harvesting and maturation change almost everything. Every other setting combined weighs less than these four.
Taming speed
At the default rate, taming a large creature takes hours. Three to five is what most groups who play in the evening settle on.
Maturation
Raising a juvenile without a multiplier takes real days. This is the setting that decides whether breeding happens on the server at all.
Harvesting
It governs the pace of building. Too high and there is no reason to leave the base; too low and building becomes a chore.
Experience
Two or three suits a group that plays in the evening. Very high values exhaust the content within a week.
What not to push
Extreme multipliers erase progression in a few evenings. ARK is a game about the journey, not the result.
Day and night length
Two separate multipliers govern the cycle. It is a quiet setting with a strong effect on comfort.
Publish the values
Multipliers belong in the server description. A player who came for a slow pace and lands on a very fast server leaves the same evening.
Never change mid-season
Whoever tamed at the old rate paid more for the same thing. If the change is unavoidable, announce it and explain why.
Write the values down
Chosen numbers are kept with the backups. An update can overwrite the file with defaults.
Check in game
One tame and one harvest tell you more than a long read of the file. It is the only reliable verification.
Most of what precedes is a matter of organisation rather than technique: the decisions are made before you start, the backups have to actually run, and the rules are written while nothing has gone wrong yet. Our ARK: Survival Ascended server hosting takes on the part there is no reason to do by hand — automatic backups, mod management and map switching, along with a panel where settings, files, mods and restarts are handled without ever opening a command line.
