PalWorldSettings.ini: the settings that matter

Almost everything that defines a Palworld run lives in one file. It is long, most of its lines do not deserve your attention, and a handful change the experience completely.

The multipliers that reshape the game

Capture speed

This is the most structural setting. Palworld revolves around catching Pals: speeding it up shortens the entire gameplay loop. On a community server where people play a few hours a week, raising it is often the difference between a world that lives and one abandoned after three evenings.

Pal spawn rate

This drives world density. Raising it makes the map feel alive and makes the server work harder: every creature is simulated. It is one of the rare settings you pay for directly in performance.

Damage dealt and damage taken

Two separate dials, which is what lets you tune difficulty precisely. Raising damage dealt without touching damage taken speeds up progression without making the game harmless.

Carry weight and crafting speed

These are the comfort settings that change long-term feel the most. Carry weight in particular is the constraint every long-running group eventually wants loosened.

Server settings, kept separate

• Slot count: match it to the machine, not to the ambition.
• Admin password: essential the moment the server holds more than your close friends.
• Autosave interval: shortening it reduces what you lose in a hard stop, and lengthens the micro-pauses while writing.

What is not worth touching

A good part of the file exposes internal values with no visible effect on gameplay or performance. The useful habit is to change only what you understand: a heavily rewritten file makes it impossible, later, to work out which setting caused which behaviour.

Applying changes

Changes are only read at boot. More importantly, the server rewrites its file on shutdown: editing while it runs means losing your work. The correct sequence is always the same — stop, edit, start.
