How much RAM a Satisfactory server needs

Satisfactory is probably the game with the most violent gap between day one and day one hundred. A server that felt comfortable at the start can become insufficient without anything changing on the player side.
What consumes
Machines
Every constructor, smelter and assembler is an entity producing continuously. A factory of several hundred machines means several hundred cycles simulated permanently.
Conveyors, above all
This is the most underestimated item. Every object on a belt is tracked individually. A long, dense, saturated network costs more than the machines it feeds.
It is also why a "clean" factory with short belts and balanced flows runs better than one of identical output crossed by long lines.
Trains and vehicles
Every moving convoy is its own simulation, with a path and a load. An extensive rail network genuinely weighs.
Players, last
They count for little. Four players on a small factory cost less than one player alone on a thousand-machine factory.
Signs you are short
- Regular stutters during autosaves, getting longer over time.
- Machines appearing to produce slowly while their inputs are full.
- A server restarting on its own with no explicit error.
The second symptom is characteristic: when the simulation falls behind, machine throughput drops before anything feels like lag.
Planning instead of reacting
There is no reliable trick for shrinking an existing factory's footprint, which is why the sizing question is better answered early than late. Tidying belt routing and shortening lines helps, but not by the factor that separates a starter base from a late-game build.
The useful rule is to size for the factory you will have in three months, not the one you have on night one. An endgame project consumes several times what a starter base asks for, with the same people on it.
Our Satisfactory hosting plans change while keeping sessions, so you can start reasonably and scale as the factory grows — rather than paying up front for a factory that does not exist yet.
