Crossplay on an Arma Reforger server

Crossplay is one of Arma Reforger's genuine selling points: PC, Xbox and PlayStation players share the same session with no special handling. The Enfusion engine and its built-in Workshop are what make that possible.
What it changes server-side
Very little, which is precisely the point. The server accepts all three platforms by default; there is nothing to enable. It is mods that raise the real questions.
The mod constraint
Because the Workshop belongs to the game rather than to a storefront, mods are in principle available everywhere. In practice, two caveats:
- Not every mod is published for every platform. A PC-only mod makes your server unreachable for console players, with no clear message on their side.
- Download size weighs more on console than on PC, where connections and storage are usually more forgiving.
The practical rule: if crossplay matters to you, check each mod's platform availability before adding it, not after.
Settings that affect everyone
Some options shift the balance between platforms, because aiming on a controller and on a mouse do not have the same constraints:
- Third-person view, generally seen as more comfortable on a controller.
- Map markers and aim assistance, which either level or tilt the field depending on the setting.
- Engagement distance: over long ranges, the gap between the two input methods widens.
There is no universally correct answer. There is the setting consistent with the audience you want, and it is worth stating plainly in the server description.
Turning crossplay off
It is an option if your community is PC-only and you want uncompromising milsim balance. But you give up a meaningful share of the Arma Reforger player base, where console presence is substantial, and a half-empty server is a worse experience than an imperfectly balanced full one.
What players notice
In practice, most crossplay friction is not mechanical but social. Console players often join with a controller and a television, which changes how quickly they read the map and how comfortable they are with long-range identification. Servers that keep their community mixed tend to do two things: they keep the mod list short so the first connect is quick, and they say clearly in the description what the settings are. Neither is a technical measure, and both do more for retention than any configuration field.
Our Arma Reforger hosting plans leave crossplay open by default, and the configuration file stays accessible if you decide otherwise.
